class="wp-block-paragraph">Members of the Tolon District Assembly have participated in a two-day training programme aimed at strengthening their leadership and governance capacities.

The training, held on Thursday, August 6, and Friday, August 7, 2026, brought together Assembly Members of the Tolon District Assembly for a Certificate Course on Next Generation Local Governance Leadership.

The programme forms part of a nationwide two-day training initiative organised by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (MLGCRA), in collaboration with the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) and the Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS).

The training seeks to enhance the knowledge, leadership capacity and effectiveness of Assembly Members in the performance of their roles within Ghana’s decentralised local governance system.

The nationwide programme, which is being held from July 13 to August 28, 2026, across Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), underscores the importance of developing capable and responsive local leadership to support effective governance and community development.

The two-day training provided the Assembly Members with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of local governance leadership and reflect on their responsibilities as representatives of their communities.

The Tolon District Assembly remains committed to continuous capacity development of its members and staff to improve service delivery, strengthen local governance and promote sustainable development across the district.

<p
